What is Included?

FSC PADDED BAGS - Some On-line purchases depending on the size of the item will come in a Paper bag made from renewable sources or is already recycled, is 100% biodegradable and is also completely recyclable or re-useable

BOXES - Other Internet orders depending on the size of the item will be sent in Boxes made from renewable sources or is already recycled, is 100% biodegradable and is also completely recyclable or re-useable. We may also re-use Boxes sent to us from suppliers but will remove all unenvironmentally friendly packaging from the box and dispose of it in the most responsible manner

TAPES - All parcel tapes involved will have natural adhesives used and will be made from renewable sources, already recycled, or part recycled (min.50%), is 100% biodegradable and is also completely recyclable or re-useable

INVOICES - All paper used during the invoicing part of your transaction is made from renewable sources or is already recycled, is 100% biodegradable and is also completely recyclable or re-useable

INKS - We send all of our ink cartridges back to source to be re-filled to avoid any plastic waste

Exclusions To This Service

There are a few exceptions to the above that are beyond our control and are not supplied or manufactured by ourselves:

Courier labels - These are printed on the same recycled paper as our invoices but the plastic sleeve that DHL provide us to attach them to our boxes with is not and needs to be removed before you recycle the cardboard box your items have arrived in.

Packaging from suppliers to us - when we receive items from suppliers in to our stock they may use non-environmentally friendly packaging. We will, when it is not needed remove and recycle it. On occasions that the packaging is needed to protect the item being sent then we will leave it in place. Overall, the packaging involved will be much more Eco-friendly than you would receive from other Retail outlets

What we are also doing at Sail and Ski

We have set up a set of company guidelines to phase in throughout out 2008 to reduce our effect on the environment. Below are the main objectives:

1 - To ensure that all paper used by the company is recycled on a weekly basis and that all paper materials bought by the company are already from renewable sources or is already recycled

2 - To reduce mileage done by company vehicles by 35%. In 2007 Company mileage was approx 12,000 miles and we hope to reduce this by splitting our deliveries from suppliers more efficiently to 7,800 miles. We are also consciously using vehicles that have low emission ratings and have very high MPG.

3 - To ensure that all power is turned off during the night in our stores. This includes display lights now being on timers, all computers being completely shut down, all interior lights are switched off and no audio/visual equipment is left on stand by.

4 - Inks - We send all of our ink cartridges back to source to be re-filled to avoid any plastic waste

5 - By actively promoting our 'Go Green' campaign to our customers in order to reduce our usage of Plastics, Polyurethane, PVC and other environmentally damaging products
